Mussoorie Part 1: The bookings

It so happens with me that i get sudden urges to do something. Impulsive people call me. However, I manage to justify them all! Mussoorie was one such. This was my last month in Delhi. And the last weekend to be able to do anything since the next weekend onwards it was navratri. My love interest of that time was in Mussoorie undergoing commando training with a grueling schedule. I didn't know when I would see him next. So here i was sitting at my good friend’s place sitting and impatiently waiting for his message and the idea struck me as i tried to focus on listening to what my friend was saying in the background.. Out of the blue i bluttered “Do you want to come to Mussoorie with me” she stared at me for a moment having caught off guard in the middle of her rant about some cleaning stuff and said “ya ok lets do it. Are you sure?” And thats how it was decided. We roped in the flatmate as well and instant bookings took place. We looked for buses from Delhi to Mussorie direct but none we available on redbus or make my trip, a friend said there were buses available on via.com so we checked that and voila we found one by BlueWorld Delhi to Mussoorie so we instantly booked that however for return there we no direct buses. I checked online and found that due to the taxi union, commercial buses aren’t allowed in Mussoorie. We did the return booking from Dehradun to Delhi with BlueWorld again. Then we went on to book the hotel and Oyo to the rescue. I had had a bad experience with Oyo on one account before and so was a bit sceptical but then decided to go ahead after doing some research on reviews, distance from Mall road (the main market place in Mussoorie) etc and selected one Hotel Amar. All the bookings were done instantly, was quite the experience with a good come back from the girls where they were cool with whatever i selected and didn't crib! I sat back and hoped for the best waiting for 3 days till the journey to pass as i got back to the present and spent some good time in some nonsensical banter and laughter with the girls.. My friend has always wanted to go on a trip with me; it was my last month in Delhi and the last trip while staying in Delhi; the possibility of seeing him for a long time in many months possibly; And I've always wanted to visit Mussoorie since a long time. The place has some sort of magical allure for me. I don't need a reason to travel but these reasons were there and so it wasn't nearly as impulsive :D The mountains were calling.. Watch out for the "Travel" in Mussoorie part 2! ;)

Prep work

As is needed for any activity be it eating or travelling or just experiencing anything, even if it is unplanned, preparation is needed! Even for the unplanned you ask? Well yes not being prepped is also a kind of prep i say ;) but then i also tend to blabber around making no sense at times. or maybe not. Lets not confuse you more. The is the first post after all! If any of you are known to the unstable atom you will know my genre of writing (i.e. there is none). Yes i say known to the atom and not know it. Anyhow, with this blog i am going to try to write down my experiences, which have been quite many now, specific to eating (out or in) and travelling. There won't be any mindless jabbering i hope and maybe it will be a bit useful. So here's to new acquaintances and new journeys! Cheers! Do drop in a note about anything you feel/think needs to be said. We are all here to share after all ;) So take these journeys with The Atom, cause i'm still her at the heart of me ;) :) Will see you soon..
